Utah Housing is a home financing option subsidized by the State of Utah. It is offered to First Time Homebuyers within a certain income bracket.
If you purchase a home in a Targeted Area, you do not have to be a first time homebuyer, and the income limitations are less strict.
Under the First Home Plus program, Utah Housing offers financial assistance for first-time homebuyers who do not have personal or family finances with which to pay their down payment and closing costs. These costs generally average 5% - 6% of the home purchase price. Applicants can borrow up to 6% of the amount of their first mortgage using a second mortgage that will have the same term as the first mortgage. This allows the homebuyer to finance the downpayment.
