Step 2: Identify Location
Location! Location! Location!
Location is also very important when you're buying your own home. Take a map of the general local area and identify all the towns, cities or counties where you may potentially want to live in or search for real-estate. Identify all possible locations in the begining. Then as you go through the (soon to follow) home search phase, you may want to narrow down your focus to a handful of towns & cities. After looking at a sample of houses in all the towns & cities of your choice, you will have a good understanding of the price range, type of real-estate available, town/city information, school system and other factors that are of importance to you.
You may have to refer to your Requirement Analysis that you have performed in step 1. In some cases you may want to tune your Requirement Analysis to reflect some of your experience during location identification.
